Over the sound of music playing through his headphones during a morning jog, he heard a sharp yelp. He stopped, took his earbuds out, and once again heard a puny cry coming from behind him. When he turned around, his heart broke… a tiny, tan puppy with soft floppy ears was limping after him, trying desperately to get his attention.
One of her back legs appeared to be badly broken, and even when he scooped her up, she continued to whimper. She was transported to a local animal control facility where her stray hold came and went, but no one came to claim this adorable little pup who needed urgent medical attention for her badly broken leg.
That’s where we stepped in. Our friends at Cobb County Animal Control reached out to see if we could help little Ellie walk again, and we immediately said yes. Just moments ago, Ellie arrived at the Atlanta Humane Society, and she is being examined by our expert Shelter Medicine Team to determine the best course of action for her leg.
Ellie was sent to an orthopedic specialist where she underwent surgery to secure the break and her leg was saved.
